Carbon you can account for.
Construction is increasingly accountable for its carbon, through SECR reporting, PAS 2080, net-zero commitments and the carbon statements tenders now ask for. AI isn't free of impact, and we won't pretend otherwise. So rather than hide it, here is a transparent figure for analysing a tender with TenderEase that you can carry into your own reporting, alongside the infrastructure commitments behind it.

How this is worked out: we estimate the energy and cooling needed to analyse a pack of this size and convert it to carbon and water using published figures for data-centre operation and grid intensity. AI energy and especially water figures carry a wide margin of uncertainty, so treat this as an indicative illustration, not an audited measurement.
Fresh water usage is falling
Data centres are a small share of overall water use. Independent US analysts put them at roughly 0.2 to 0.5 percent of national freshwater, well below agriculture or power generation.
The good news is that this figure is also improving. The data centre industry is shifting to closed-loop liquid cooling and dry coolers that recirculate coolant rather than evaporating fresh water, cutting on-site cooling water sharply, especially in cooler climates like the UK where TenderEase runs.
Most of the remaining footprint is indirect, from the electricity used, which falls as grids decarbonise. So we keep the figure above deliberately cautious.

The infrastructure behind it
We run no data centres of our own. The analysis runs on established cloud and AI providers, so you can read their commitments directly and cite them in your own due diligence.
Amazon Web Services, hosting
AWS reports targets of net-zero carbon by 2040 and water positive by 2030, matched 100% of its 2024 electricity with renewable energy, and a data-centre efficiency (PUE) of around 1.15 against an industry average near 1.25.

The water figure is the least certain part of this page. Published estimates for data-centre water vary enormously depending on what's counted, so we show an indicative number rather than hide it, but treat it as a wide-range estimate. What we will say plainly: a tender analysis is a small, one-off footprint that replaces days of manual review, and it runs on infrastructure that is getting more efficient over time.
